FYI: I’m venturing to write this as a boss would about an employee…not as a smitten husband would about his hot wife. So…
Sharon’s a juggernaut. At the moment, she’s 9 months pregnant…and she still gets more done in a given day than most do in a week. I understand that this isn’t the most popular term these days (for some dumb reason I can’t quite figure), but she’s an incredible manager. How someone can be that sweet, and still carry such incredible authority is amazing.
She builds teams, empowers leaders, and sits back and watches them fly. She’s there to catch them if they fall, but they rarely do.
They rarely fall because she has an uncanny ability to see what people are good at–and nothing makes her happier than helping someone find their place to serve in the Kingdom of God. Nothing.
So think about it. Put yourself in my shoes. If you were a lead pastor, how important would someone like Sharon be to your team?
By the way…if reading this in any way causes you to think, “I should probably talk to this Sharon person.” You should go with that–it was most likely Jesus’ idea.
A person like Sharon is vital for many reasons. But, in the theme of a true English teacher, I will stick with a main thesis. A true leader recognizes hidden potential, then grooms and trains that person until they are confident doing the task independently. As that “leader-trainer”, it is possible that the person may stumble into a deep, dark hole and not see a way out. A true leader is NOT afraid, because of their faith in Christ and abilities, to get INTO the hole with them show them how to climb out and be successful. This takes a great deal of time, encouragement and confidence in ALL parties. Sharon exudes all said qualities. Furthermore, she does so with grace and beauty. Christ was on a mission to raise and develop leaders. Having a person around who approaches leadership in such a manner is passing the love and mission of Christ along, no matter what the setting is. Sharon is a genuine, beautiful example of her response to Christ’s charge for our lives.
well said, molly! You can say that so well because you’ve been there and done that yourself!
